The last month or so has brought quite a bit of much needed rain to the area, though not much in the way of storms. Which is generally a good thing, although I do enjoy a good storm! Yesterday evening there was a surprise storm that visited the farm. It wasn’t severe, but it did provide some decent photo opportunities!
I generally photograph storms over the large field to the north of the house, but this storm approached us from the south, so I shot towards the west. In this photo I used a graduated neutral density filter to enhance the ominous look of the storm. With the light shining through a hole in the clouds and brightly lighting the field, it further exaggerated the darkening effect of the filter on this pretty typical summer thunderstorm.
Just seconds after snapping this photo I felt the first drops start to fall and went running back to the house!
