This weekend was Carthage Art Walk. I’ve never participated in Carthage Art Walk either as a ‘walker’ or an artist so I was excited to see what it was like. Once again I shared a space with Jason, which is always a good time. Carthage Art Walk is a two day affair, with Friday night being more geared towards adults with wine, cheese, and live music, and Saturday has kid friendly activities. I thought it was a pretty neat concept.
To the right is a nice shot of the Jasper County Courthouse before the event started. I’ve always thought this was a pretty cool building. The square is looking good, all decorated for the holidays.
As expected, Carthage Art Walk is a much smaller event than the festival in Joplin that draws thousands upon thousands, but I had just as much fun. Something I liked about this event was that I was able to meet a lot of other area artists. Most of the participants here were from Carthage and as it turns out, Carthage has a lot of very talented artists.
Jason and I were setup at Smith Midwest, along with another artist named Tom Jones. It was a great location and we had plenty of nice space to setup a lot of pieces.
I had my stuff setup in a few different small displays around the room. Jason was next to me with his “Colossal Squid”.
Here is an interesting installation by Jason.
