Sunset in RainSunsets are one of those things that serve absolutely no purpose other than to be awesome. I’m glad God took the time to include so many pointless but awesome things in our world, even though we often take them for granted or fail to take proper care of them.

The other night I came home from work just in time to catch this particularly nice but unusual sunset. Unusual in that it was completely lacking in clouds, which often serve as the vehicle for a spectacular sunset. A combination of very thin clouds/haze and rain was enough to catch the light from the sunset, causing an abnormally vibrant range of colors.

It was raining but naturally I had to go grab my camera and try to snap a few shots. I used this tree in my yard as a subject because while the sunset was nice… a simple gradient of colors is not a particularly compelling photograph. Naturally I forgot to attach the lens hood before I went out, so I had to deal with rain drops getting all over the lens.

One thing worth mentioning is that I did not alter or adjust this image in ANY way (other than the added watermark of course).
