"Hey, what's this?"

So I just remembered this cool thing. THe other day I was getting in the back of Lynds’s car and I looked down and I saw what appeared to be a cheeseburger. I said “hey, did you know there is a cheeseburger back here?” Part of me wanted to be grossed out, but part of me was kinda hungry…. Well, she claims her sister must have left it there… either way, you car has to be pretty skanky to NOT notice a CHEESEBURGER just hangin’ out. Sorry L. Come to think of it … I am not one to talk because, as I write this, I have half of my meal from Nonna’s the other night still in my car…. ehh… ok

Well I’m going over to a get together now. Kinda funny because I started making some calls to get something to happen, and decided we would all meet up at Drew’s. Then a half hour later i get a txt message from Kim, saying “hey people are meeting at drew’s, you should come”. I just thought it was funny for some reason….

Have a splendid saturday… maybe I’ll post some pics later!

Merry Turkey

Lots of people wished me “happy turkey day”, which got me thinking… that’s really about all this holiday is these days. Just like christmas is all about stressing out, and buying/giving gips, thanksgiving is mainly a day to celebrate america’s premiere addiction – eating.

Just the other day it hit me that not once during the holiday did I or any of my family mention anything about what all we have to be thankful for. Unfortunately the only way this will probably every change is if this country enters a severe economic depression. To be truly thankful for what you have, I think one must have experienced life without, and let’s face it – none of us have truly experienced this. What is special or thankful about eating a feast these days? By world and historical standars, we eat feasts every day of every week. No wonder that (according to the CDC) 65% of americans are overweight, and nearly half of those are obese. I will probably resurrect this subject a little closer to Christmas because it severely bothers me that my mom and granny spend more time worrying about finding out what everyone WANTS and trying to find time to buy it all – than just enjoying what a holiday is SUPPOSED to be.

So here is the lighter side of the week. I spend some time in Springfield with some friends over the weekend. I took a girl out to the movies and after I got our tickets she did the usual “thanks, you didn’t have to do that” oronogo atnipsand then the ticket guy interrupted by saying (through the robotic sounding window speaker) “yeah he did”. We both turned and looked, and laughed. He shrugged and said “well, it’s true!”. Haha. Then went and stayed at Colby’s house, which is always a great time. It was an interesting night all around.

The other day Kurtis and I were talking about all the “So and So WEST” high schools and such. We decided if WC school district ever made a second HS it would be in Oronogo. And we figured their mascot would be the “Atnips” because every Atnip ever made lives within 5 miles of Oronogo, and rarely strays, even temporarily. So as a joke, I designed this great logo, for when this school is built.

I am planning to go to the MSU basketball game friday night, if anyone wants to go!

Thanksgiving is Tomorrow

Just a quickie here…. I am having people over friday afternoon/evening. Everyone is invited. We’ll probably eat stuff, watch war of the worlds, and maybe play some games. Who knows…

Also – Colby, and a slew of others informed me that CNN was reporting yesterday that Sam, the ugly dog from a few posts back has died. I guess he was having some real health issues and his owner had him “euthanized”. Let’s take a moment of silence in rememberence of sam, and his nightmarish appearance… a cross between a troll, the crypkeeper, and a stegosaurus.

This Weekend

a new ride?Let’s start with friday night… definitely one of the most bizarre friday nights I have had in a LONG time. For multiple reasons… Then saturday night was also weird because Landon called me and said his new band was playing at the Joplin underground. So Atnip and Kurtis went with me. The band was actually opening for this cage-fighting thing. I would have never expected to find myself in the 5th row of a cage fighting event in some underground cave thing in Joplin… but sure enough, there I was! Then I went over to Landon’s ‘rents house and we caught up and talked about some random stuff. It was a good time. I’m really glad he’s back into things with a band….

Here is a random story that I forgot to mention in my last post. The greatest part about cell phones is that now when sitting in airports all the people that would normally be just sitting there are now dialing anyone who will answer, just to they can have someone to talk to. The old lady sitting in the bench across from me… i don’t know who she was talking to, but she got my attention when she started using a loud aggressive tone. Then she screamed out “leeroy i told you 1- have safe sex and 2 – use a condom”.

I sent out the first round of invites to “LakeEscape”, which is my annual New Year’s Eve event. It’s always loads of fun. I have all the latest and greatest info on this page . So get ready, and let me know if you have any questions! Hope you can make it!

A few of you have asked why I always say “entry originally pubished…” its because I moved my blog to my new website, and i made this deal that automatically updates my xanga with the exact same stuff, and it just does that on its own …. I did this so all you xanga-ers wouldn’t even know that I moved. But obviously I underestimated you. Well that’s it for now… I think I am going to that 617 deal at grants church tonight for the first time (seems like i have a bad habbit of not being around on sunday nights…. ??? Or something.

Random Darkness

Going to film school – I came across some real unusual people, both in MO and CA. I could write 10 posts about them, but instead I just have a funny quote from one such character. Btw, one time a group memeber was giving us his email address. He said “random darkness at hotmail.com”. I thought it was funny. The quote is from Nick in California. Keep in mind, Nick was probably the least talented and active person in class.

Nick: My goal is to be like Spielburg, only edgier.

Teacher: Well at least you aren’t setting the bar TOO high.

world's ugliest dogSo last night I was driving through Joplin and I was almost in a wreck when a truck failed to yield (also failed to use his turn signal), and in a panic almost stuck the car in the other lane to get out of my way. Before I got home I had close encounters with 3 (THREE!) separate pedestrians who just randomly walked in front of me in the dark on W. 7th.

The last item for today is that I am going to Dayton, OH this weekend to help my friend Derek do some short film project. He’s shooting it on 16mm, so that should be intersting. Tonight starts of SMS/MSU basketball – and of course I will be there!

I just couldn’t bring myself to post without a photo – so here is the winner of the world’s ugliest dog contest.

The House that Was…

So all these pics are from friday night. Drew, Matt, my cousin Cameron and his ladyfriend Christy (sp?) went to go check out Drew’s grandmother’s old home. She died awhile back, and the house has been empty since then. A few things you must know. This house is VERY old and this house is VERY creepy. The pic of the outside is what you see from the street. The old tall windows that with a few exceptions are all grown over will weeds. We aren’t quite sure what the thing in the attic was – but from my best guess, it’s a coffin. With some blankets on top that have long rotted away. The most interesting find of the night was bottles of alcohol (still with alcohol in them) that I estimated to be about 70 years old (from the date printed on the labels). I took a smell, and yep, it definitely still smelled like kahlua. The other interesting find was the picture in the living room, of christmas in that very room, probably about 45 years ago. When the house was full of life and people. Before it was empty and slowly falling in on itself.

The other thing I did was go to the wedding of Adam and Candice. As far as weddings go – it was pretty nice. Except everyone I knew there was IN the wedding, so I just had to pick a random table at the reception with people about my age and make a few instant-friends. It worked out okay. What is weird, and also ironic is that on my way TO the wedding I ran into Jake. So later than night I swung by his loft and we went to the mud lounge and caught up on each other. It was pretty fun.
