I’m not sure if it’s the weather or what but today I had the most bizarrely pleasant lunch-time errand ever. I went to Atwoods to pickup some weed blocking fabric and was the recipient of an unexpected nicety.
There were 2 registers open, both with 3 or 4 people already in line. I halfway committed to the left side just because I am left handed. While my lane was being plagued with customer service issues, the lady who came after me rocketed straight up to the other register.
When she was next up, instead of putting her items on the table, she waved back at me and said “why don’t you come up here – you were here before me”. I was floored. I have won and lost the “which checkout lane” game many times, but never has the person who beat me purposely tripped so I could still win. Unbelievable.
