Saturday was pretty exciting because I got to tag along with a few other guys to attend a fly-in breakfast in Aurora. It was a nice clear morning and perfect flying conditions. It was so much fun and just an overall awesome experience that mere words cannot describe it. I also learned that the airport in aurora is less than impressive… but hey… it’s Aurora. I didn’t even know they had an airport.
As we were loading up for the return trip (which btw takes all of about 15 minutes by plane) the owner of the plane jumped in the back seat and said “i think we’re going to let you fly us home”. So I gladly accepted the challenge and hopped up front with the other passenger (who happens to be an instructor at Mizzou Avation) and with a fair amount of assistance I managed to get us back to Joplin at roughly the correct altitude and headings.

Here we have the pilot and co-pilot giving the plane an pre-flight inspection. There really isn’t much to a routine check. This plane belongs to the fellow looking at the engine.

Looking back at the airport after departing from runway 3-6.

Here you can see some of the flood leftovers.

This is a nice view of my homestead, at the end of the long driveway next to the pond.

This was taken almost directly above Carthage. In this photo you can see the following things:
1- My place of employment (lower right on edge of frame)
2- The new 71/249 interchange construction (center)
3- South 1/4 of Webb City and part of Joplin in the distance.
