Fluff McCoy, 126 cat years, of Carthage, Missouri died at his home December 19th 2006 of natural causes. An unnamed brother preceded Fluff in death. Fluff is survived by his sister, Puff, of Joplin as well as many extended family members.

At only a few weeks old, Fluff was adopted by his proud family who soon relocated him to their home in nearby Joplin, MO. While his schooling was limited he captured the hearts of all that came into contact with him. Even though Fluff was deaf, he could smell a can of tuna being opened from any corner of the house.

Known for his 17 lb. frame, friendly personality, and bi-colored eyes Fluff spent most of his days at home, walking the property, taking naps, and eating hearty. Fluff enjoyed occasional hunting trips with his sister where she would often net mice in great multitudes, only to have them later confiscated by Fluff.

Although not known for fighting, Fluff’s size was intimidating. Throughout life he amassed many visits to the vet for stitches after defending his yard from foreign cat invaders.

In his later years, Fluff was known for his droopy tail from a sliding door altercation as well as poor grooming habits. His interests moved to eating, napping, and receiving attention. He would often settle in high traffic areas in hopes he would be crossed and pet out of sympathy.

Fluff was discovered in the garage by his owner, Mom, at approximately 9:30 in the evening Tuesday, where he had apparently died peacefully.

The family will hold private services.

  1. I, for one, will miss that sweet kitty. He was such a beautiful kitty when he was younger. I cried a little when Patti told me about finding him. Now Puff is living all over the house instead of just in the basement. She doesn’t have to share the house anymore. See you at Christmas & on the 23rd. Granny
