Anyone remember OBZ? Most of you probably don’t have a clue what it is. When I was a freshman I rebelled against the traditional greek system by starting my own fraternity. We didn’t pick our members by how cool, rich, or how connected they were. We just organized events, and people showed up. After 3 semesters of OBZ, I began to feel that my goals for OBZ were at odds with most of the current members…so I jumped ship and moved my attention to Icthus, which meant once again starting over socially. Luckily it didnt’ take much time to work my way into Icthus, it was a pretty natural fit.
Anyways… this particular night was capture the flag night in the north lawn of PACB (now known as Strong Hall). Although I only still talk to 3 people from this photo, i can remember every single persons name. Except for the guy that everyone called “toad”, i have no idea what his real name was. And there is Natalie Colba who not long after this photo was taken, completely vanished from the face of the earth. If you look closely you can see Ian, who I had just moved into 1321 with. And of course there is me, sporting my OBZ t-shirt which i still sometimes wear.

What did OBZ stand for?…….
Cool! I’ve seen that shirt before and wondered to myself “what the heck is OBZ?”
Ian is a rock star for being you friend for a ridiculously long time.
OBZ stood for Omega Beta Zeta – which was already taken. But it sounded funny, and we actually used phoenecian letters, not greek, so it really wasn’t even ‘obz’, thats just the closet representations with roman characters. We thought we were so clever…
I am a rockstar! http://www.myspace.com/presentingthetoys
