Checking in for the long flight to Moscow. (Мо?ква)

This was probably the weirdest flight i’ve ever been one. Here are the reasons:
1- The thick fog coming out of the vents (see video)
2- the guy that didn’t want to stay in his seat during takeoff
3- The guy chugging vodka straight from the bottle during takeoff.
4- The sleepwalker fighting with his son (guy in orange shirt above).
5- When we landed in Moscow everyone started clapping.
It was also just plain awful because it was a really long flight in a fairly small, cramped plane. Plus, there was no entertainment of any kind, and my audio player battery was almost dead.

I come all the way to Moscow and Red Square is closed! So this is about as close as we could get.

This is the spot where all the address numbers originate from, in central Moscow.

The Kremlin.

Me in front of St. Basil’s Cathedral. This was built between 1555-1561 by Ivan the Terrible. After it was done, Ivan had the architect blinded so that he could never build anything else to rival it. Despite this, he did go on to build another structure in different city.

A high class shopping mall next to Red Square. This used to be where supplies and things were distributed during the communist era. Now its a monument to capitalism. Interesting how things change.
A rather pointless shot of some red russian taxi-cabs.

The metro in Moscow had many old, and very elaborate stations. And some of them seemed to be about 5 miles underground.

This looks to be an old elaborate cathedral, but in fact it’s only a few years old – and much larger than it looks in this photo. The story I was told was that it was built by the russian government, mainly with private donations. Essentially the government told all the businesses how much they were going to contribute.

The view from the apartment of the couple we stayed with. Rex, who showed us around and who we stayed with, informed me that the Russians have the unique ability to built an apartment building that instantly looks 40 years old.

A Russian road sign. In case you don’t speak Russian I will translate to the best of my abilities:
Lermontovsky Prospect
Mkad – 3km
Lubertsih – 1km

Rex and Sue Wolfe, who took us in and showed us around Moscow. They are really great and were a lot of fun to be around. Also – this is one of the ugliest photos ever taken of me.

An Aeroflot jet, similar to the one we flew in on. Aeroflot is the government owned russian airline, and the main carrier in Russia.

The Russian countryside as we take off.
