The Big Game

So I went to the WC-Carthage high school football game last night, and for the (i think) 20th year in a row, WC won. It was not a surprise, nor was it a surprise that it was their um-teenth shutout of the season. What was interesting to learn was that until last year Carthage actually lead the series historically. I guess I just can’t remember back that far. The interesting thing about this rivalry is that it is very one sided in my opinion. Carthage DESPISES WC, but I don’t think WC wants to beat Carthage any more than they want to beat anyone else. High School football… it’s so interesting how this little town on the north side of Joplin gets so wrapped up in it! Some towns have various festivals or this or that – this town has game day.
