Returning from SoCal

I took my time returning from LA, so I could enjoy the western United States. I took this opportunity to travel through some areas that had always peaked my attention, but always seemed to be a little out of the way. I made it as far as Flagstaff on I-40 when I headed for the back roads. I took the back roads the rest of the way back to Missouri.

A lonely mailbox near the town of
Mexican Hat, Utah. This unusually placed box was
decorated with a American flag sticker and several
bullet holes.

A spectacular view of Monument Valley,
just inside the Utah state line. The Navajo like
to set up stands and sell various kinds of junk
along these roads.

Sunrise in eastern New Mexico, just
before crossing into Oklahoma. My goal was to make
it all the way home this day. I spent the night
sleeping in the front seat of my car at a rest area
in Trinidad, CO.
