Life in SoCal

I spent some time in California, taking classes, going to the beach, and generally having a good time. I wasn’t sure if I would like LA, but as it turned out I did a lot! About the only thing I never really cared for was the fact that everywhere you go is crowded. And parking is NEVER free or easy.

My first view of downtown LA as I made my way into my new home.

The street of my new apartment…pretty nice!

Downtown LA. Not any more impressive that most other cities I’ve been to. I did like Pico street because it reminded me of my sister, “Poco”.

Ian and I decided to climb a mountain. Our first of many…

One of the things I enjoyed about LA was the proximity of so many outdoor opportunities. Here is the Angeles National Forest. Not far at all from downtown LA.

The fam came out to visit and we checked out some of the sights all over California.

At the time I was annoyed taking this photo but now I am kind of glad mom insisted on it.

Yosemite’s “Half Dome”, known to many as a subject of Ansel Adams.

Yosemite is home to some of the best hiking I’ve encountered!

We rented some bikes and rode around the bike path in Yosemite Valley. Lots of fun!

Perhaps the most famous bridge in the country. San Francisco turned out to be a really pretty city. Though a bit chilly in the summer.
